St. Jude Medical receives FDA approval

St. Jude Medical, Inc. received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for manufacturing its pacemakers and cardiac leads in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The company plans to begin manufacturing its implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) later this year.


Commenting on the occasion, president and CEO of St. Jude Medical, Daniel J. Starks said, “Our success in Puerto Rico reflects our commitment to the highest quality standards, so we are pleased to expand our manufacturing capabilities there. The expansion of our Puerto Rico operations enhances our ability to provide life-saving devices to people around the world.”
